The BHYC gang with their fall coach Royce Weber at the Fall Series at Toms River YC. According to the sailors and their families, the fall series has been a ton of fun and all of the kids are racing well and representing BHYC admirably. Bay Head also had a good group of Opti sailors brave the wicked weather at the ACCs held in LEHYC a few weekends ago as well. Well done all!

We've got 17 sailors up in RI for the New Englands Championship--you can follow their progress at the USODA website--hit "results" in the list under "Regattas," then "2012 Events," then "2012 New Englands." Good luck!
The USODA Nationals concluded over the weekend, with a number of BHYC juniors participating and sailing extremely well! Out of 180 sailors, Alex Fasolo ended up 14th overall and Sam Gavula 21st overall, qualifying for Team Trials. There were a number of other local sailors who competed in Ohio as well... for full results hit the link. Congrats!

BHYC had a huge regatta at the Mid-Atlantic Junior Olympic festival! Not only did we have a lot of kids place and improve their sailing, but we also won the prestigious sportsmanship award--congrats Graham Johnson! You can view the results at the below link.
We hosted the BBYRA Midget elimination on the 9th, and saw some very competitive sailing over the course of the day--5 races on a course covering the entire flats with steady breeze. While BHYC came up just short of sending a qualifier to the finals, we sailed very well, with 9 of the top 20 boats from BHYC. Well done!

Opti As: Not as much breeze as last week, but three good races on a triangle course to help prep for next week's regattas. Lots of movement in scores from last week; this is great data to think about what you did well and what you can work on from race to race. There are updated overall standings that include all 6 races in the Merrick Center. Nice job everyone!
Opti Bs: Day one was a success, getting in 5 races this morning for some great practice for next week's regattas. Michaela wins top spot with brady Nieblign just a point behind. Well done to all!

Jack filmed and edited this fantastic video of his kids roll tacking. Not only is it a good way for the kids in the video to see their own tacks and improve, but younger sailors should watch as well and learn how to roll tack better and come out of the tack with speed. Thanks Jack!
Today provided a more manageable 12-15 knots vs. yesterdays steady 18 with 25 knot puffs. We were able to get all of the opti As out for their first round of Point Races, sailing three races on a big trapezoid course. Brooke Naylor won the day, with Addie Sellig in a close second. The complete scores are posted in the Merrick Center and can also be viewed here.

The BHYC sailing program is only a few short weeks away, and we're all exited to get started! We've once again hired a fantastic coaching staff, with both new talent and returning veterans.
